Our Philosophy
One size doesn't fit all
We believe that flexibility is key to adapting to life's challenges. With this in mind, we tailor our styles and interventions to best fit you while using theory to guide our practice. In this way, we hope to draw upon your individual strengths to support you in the therapeutic process. As a client, you are an expert in your own life history, bringing in your own set of experiences, strengths, challenges, and unique background. As psychologists, we take those experiences into account while drawing from our own expertise to balance what you bring to session with our training and knowledge. We seek to provide a safe environment in which we can balance support and gentle challenge, and balance exploration with some practical goals to help you bring more resilience to your life. In addition, we believe that “therapy” is just as much what happens in your life between sessions as during sessions. Indeed, psychotherapy is not usually a “quick fix,” but a commitment to giving yourself the time and space for growth, insight, and taking small steps to change some of the patterns that have caused you challenges in your life. For some folks, that may be a relatively brief commitment, and for others, it may take more time. We seek to honor where you are at in your journey and assess your needs as an ongoing process throughout therapy.
